Please check out today's post at The Days of Wine & Roses; it's called "Song," & it's one of the shorter poems in The Days of Wine & Roses.
You'll also find information on our second (& probably final) book giveaway contest, in which you could win a copy of yours truly's The Days of Wine & Roses (the book)!

The atmosphere of desolation here is heightened by the sense of the barn blown out of shape by the wind.
ReplyDeleteHi Dick: They do get wind up in Lake Fork--it's flat farmland about a mile high.
ReplyDeleteJohn, this looks similar to one just torn down, out my way( along with the old house ).Alas, I did not get any pictures...but the sense of abandonment feels the same.
ReplyDeleteAnd I managed to I.D. the car in your Dad's photos #22, as a 1930-31 Ford Model A( most likely the latter ). Those landau bars were a pricey option!
that is one forlorn looking barn....great snap
ReplyDeleteHi Mouse: Wow, thanks! It is one of the more decrepit barns that's still in full use.
ReplyDeleteThat photo reminds me of some of the things I miss living in the big city, having grown up on a farm. The smells of a barn are unique, both pleasant and repellent. There is always so much life there, almost like the Grand Central Terminal of the animal world.
ReplyDeleteHi Ladrón: You can't ever have quite everything, eh? I miss the city, especially The City, but my wife is very much into rural life & I do like a number of aspects of same. Not least is seeing scenes like this. This time of year as everything thaws the cow manure is quite ripe, however!
