Good Show!

Hey everybody! Eberle & I had a blast last night, & the audience did too—they were great. We did 17 songs plus an encore, & things went off pretty much without a hitch. Our good friends, & crack photographers, Tim & Lorie Hohs took lots of pix during the show, & I’ll post some of them when I get ‘em. In the meantime, here are a few snapshots from the pre-show.

  1. It sounds as if you had a great time, John, and both of you look happy. I was telling someone this morning how much I miss singing. The CBC was playing the Vivaldi "Gloria" and I was singing along, trying to remember my part, remembering how I loved being part of a choir. Making music in public is just special - better than making music for your own entertainment, better than listening to recordings. Something about the communication between performer and audience elevates the experience for everybody involved.

  2. Hi Sandra: Yes! The audience is such a big part of things--much more than they may realize. We had a great bunch last night & it really lifted us up in terms of performing. Perhaps you might explore some local singing options...tho it does seem like you have a lot going on now.

  3. 17 songs!

How very Springsteen of you ! :)

Really would have loved to have been in attendance...if you ever do a New England tour I'll make sure to be there.

    Peace - Rene

  4. The internet is a wonderful thing and can shrink great distances to a few digital seconds. But I would have still given a lot to be in that audience to listen to you both. One day, John, one day.

  5. Hi Rene & Alan

Rene: Actually 17 is a piece of cake--when I do the monthly Farmer's Market it's about 50! New England tour does sound tempting....but there's also that Yorkshire tour that Alan & Tony are talking about...

Alan: The amazing thing is that I get to know folks like all of you who I'd never have met in the normal course of event. Only one of this blog's official "followers" is someone I know other than on the web, & I really enjoy the friendships I've built thru this blog. Never imagined I'd be communing with folks from Canada & the UK & Ireland etc. etc., let alone farflung parts of the US

  6. Congrats! Sounds like you had a great time, which means that the audience probably did, too.

  8. I'm glad to read your remarks on audience - since I've always said, when it comes to music, I'm a good audience! (Then, too, I tell myself, "All God's children got a place in the choir...")

You and Eberle do look happy - I'm sure it was a wonderful evening. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Hi Karen & Tony:

Karen: A good audience is absolutely a crucial part of a performance! But I also believe the choir quote.

Tony: Thanks--no video that I know of. Hope to get the pix fairly soon & will post them when I do.
