"Dating Poems" (installment #4)

[Another of L.E. Leone's Dating Poems - enjoy!]

No, I didn’t like the way
you touched my face,
first date, at the counter and
without tenderness. More like
a piece of fruit.

I’m sweet I’m soft
I’m bruised I’m ripe
I’m hard I’m furry
sticky crunchy juicy,
I have a hole in me
from another piece’s
stem, the sticker will
be hard to peel if you
wash me first, and

there might be a worm
in there. True, I’m

nutty buttery bananas
to your waffle, Joe,
but I ain’t fruit,
fuck you.

  1. Wonderful. Such a joy to read that I have read it twice. Clever, clever, clever.

  2. This is why I read poetry, why I love humanity in all its juicy, sticky, crunchy, wormy messiness. Brilliant.

I am adoring these dating poems. Thanks for introducng them to me.

  3. Hi Alan, Nana Jo, Willow & Dave: & thanks all for responding to L.E.'s poem!

  4. Whoa! Go, L.E.! I want to stand up and cheer for this one!

  5. Hi Karen: It is a rousing one, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by!
