"First Aid Kit"

[Crayon bombs away in this "wishful" poetic excursion by Barbie Angell—& her drawing that accompanies it is quite remarkable!  Enjoy!]

First Aid Kit

I wish I had a band-aid
To cover up the earth.
To heal it and protect it.
To prepare it for rebirth.

I want to spray some Bactine
From sea to shining sea,
Then pour them all a Coke
And sing of what could be.

I’d love to write a ballad
And rock the world to sleep
And wrap their dreams like presents
As something they could keep.

I’d cry to fill the oceans
Or scream to kill the noise.
I’d read the poems of Silverstein
To all the girls and boys.

I’d give away my money
Or write the greatest book.
I’d quote E.F. Hutton every hour
If I could get them just to look.

I’d take Robert Fulghum’s words to heart
And drop some Crayon bombs.
I’d invite the world to a potluck lunch
If it would make them get along.
