22nd ave octet

for Colby

one penny face down amidst wet maple leaves
shines, three palmettos unfold umbrella fronds

shading cardboard boxes, two terracotta
pots, petals painted along their rims, grace that

raised bed’s shelf, four golden balloons rise on black
plastic stalks under a tea shop’s arched windows;

sun emerges over red cedars—just then:
existence radiant in its reflection
