Ladybugs?

I’ve always thought of ladybugs as one of the coolest members of the insect world—after all, they eat pests & they don’t bite, & they’re kinda cute in a sort of roly-poly beetlish way; & tho I’m not religious, I also think it’s interesting that they got their name from a Medieval association with the Virgin Mary.

But I’ve never looked at ladybugs as a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. However, that’s how my friend Pirate Goat sees them…. er, confused? If you are, then you haven’t stopped by Eberle’s Platypuss-in-Boots blog lately! I’m biased, of course, but I think it’s fantastic & I know several of you have caught the Platypuss fever too! In fact, here’s a big Robert Frost’s Banjo thanks to our good friend Kat Mortenson of Poetikat’s Invisible Keepsakes, Kigo of the Kat & Poetikat’s Blasts from the Past (yes, she keeps busy!) who gave such a nice shout-out to Platypuss-in-Boots today. Kat is one of the most generous & supportive bloggers around.

Anyhoo, do stop by tomorrow—Platypuss posts Monday, Wednesday & Friday—or stop by any time to catch up!

Hope everyone’s having a happy Tuesday.

  1. We are just over being invaded by thousands of ladybugs...they are used as pest control in the farms up here in NH and well, they kinda like the Granite State...a couple are cute, thousands are a bit overwhelming

    Peace ~ Rene

  2. Hi Rene: I've never seen ladybugs by the thousands! Ah well, everything in moderation, ladybugs included.

  3. Dear Rene this is Goat. I think you should keep an eye on all those ladybugs because they could get out of hand. You show great perspicacity by seeing them as invaders. Perspicacity is a word I learned from Bink. It is useful. Also if you yell this word as loud as you can while boarding a ship for hand-to-hand combat it can put fear into the hearts of your foes. Just a thought. Good-bye.
